Nyumba Camps
Nyumba means “home” in Swahili. Set amid Tanzania’s remarkable landscapes, these wilderness camps combine the adventure of sleeping under canvas with thoughtful comforts. Camps move seasonally to follow the wildlife, and it’s not unusual to find tracks from warthogs, dik-diks and other animals passing right through camp.
The hospitality is just as memorable. Skilled camp chefs prepare delicious meals that blend familiar favorites with East African flavors. Guests have been known to enjoy them so much they ask for the recipes!
Nyumba Tents
Nyumba tents, exclusive to our travelers, provide both proximity to Tanzania’s wilderness and generous Western-style amenities. Nyumba tents were designed by co-founder Rick Thomson to give you the ultimate safari camping experience. Take a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making your Nyumba so special.
Each tent is outfitted with:
A queen-sized bed with fine linens (twin-sized beds available upon request)
Private en suite bathrooms
Safari-style en suite showers with hot water
Solar LED lighting

There's plenty to enjoy beyond wildlife drives. Start your morning with a walk alongside a Maasai warrior, explore a private nature reserve on foot or settle in for a secluded picnic on the plains. At select camps, unwind with yoga or enjoy a romantic evening dinner.
