Safari guest jogging with a Maasai runner across the Serengeti plains

Go on a Run Through the Serengeti

Clear your head, stretch your legs and take off through the grass. We’re happy to accommodate running while you’re on safari. That’s why there’s someone at each of our camps ready to accompany you on a jog by request.

Ask to run, lace up, and set out on the plains – that’s all there is to it. You’re welcome to jog for as long as you’d like and turn around to head back to camp at your leisure.

Why Run During Your Vacation?

After a day of off-roading, you might want to stretch your legs a little, and Tanzania is truly one of the most beautiful places to do it.

It’s also a great way to see some of the grazing animals around the area from outside the confines of a Land Rover. Be prepared to find wildebeest, giraffes, zebra, gazelles and other grazers.

And if you’re a fitness fan with an interest in human history…

Eighteen miles from the Serengeti, researchers found Lucy, one of the most complete skeletons of one of the earliest bipedal hominids, opens in new tab. Some 3.2 million years later, humans have become one of the greatest bipedal runners on the planet.

So, when you run in the Serengeti, you’re engaging in an activity that took between 6 and 7 million years to perfect around the very place it originated.

Neat, right?
