Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania

Karibu! Welcome to Arusha. A guide will meet you at the airport via your Delta/KLM flight and transport you to your accommodations: a lodge set in a beautiful coffee plantation in the foothills of Mount Meru.

Relax in stylish and comfortable accommodations in the middle of one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations. With a convenient location near the city and airport, Arusha Coffee Lodge is the perfect starting place for your adventure.

Days 2–4

Serengeti National Park

A short bush flight brings you directly into the heart of the Serengeti. The next three days will be filled with big cats, the Big Five and – with luck – Great Migration herds. Your seasonal mobile camp brings you as close to the wildlife as possible.

Days 5-6

Ngorongoro Crater & Highlands

The world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera also hosts the densest concentration of large mammals on the planet. You’ll explore its floor over the next two days and search for the Big Five, including the rare black rhino. In the evenings, you’ll retire to Gibb’s Farm, a three-time Travel + Leisure Top Safari Lodge in Africa.

Gibb’s Farm

Fresh food, fresh air, and fresh perspectives abound at Gibb’s Farm (a three-time Travel + Leisure Top Safari Lodge in Africa). After full days of exploration, relax in your eco-friendly cottage, set amidst the farm’s lush gardens. Enjoy an outdoor shower, in-room spa treatment, farm-to-table dining, and learning about local culture from the attentive staff.

Days 7-9

Ruaha National Park

Rugged, raw and one of the most remote safari locations in East Africa – seeing Ruaha is a rare treat for travelers. It’s the only park in Africa where you can find East African and Southern African wildlife, and a prime location for finding rare species like kudu, wild dog and sable antelope with the help of local guides and expert spotters.

Kigelia Ruaha

Rest under the shade of a sausage tree and unwind alongside the seasonal Ifiguru sand river. This beautiful tented camp is a relaxing retreat in the middle of the wilderness. Tents are outfitted with en suite bathrooms and deck space perfect for stargazing.

Days 10-12

Nyerere National Park

Three times larger than the Serengeti, brimming with rare creatures, Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) is perfect for safari by foot, vehicle and boat – this unique riverine environment provides a gripping end to your adventure. The opportunity to see amphibious species up close is remarkable for safari goers in East Africa, and it pairs wonderfully with a serene walking excursion.
